These letters are from young men and women who have received the benefit of a Jesuit education due the generosity of the Brooklyn Prep Alumni Association. We can all be proud of what the BPAA has been able to accomplish since the closing of the Prep over 30 years ago.

Dear Fr. Fitzpatrick,

My name is Charlie Kaczor and I am a freshman at Xavier High School in the Class of

2016. I live in Brooklyn and I'm very grateful for the generous support that has made my

experience and amazing education here at Xavier possible through the Brooklyn Prep

Alumni Scholarship.

Speaking of this experience, it has been a great one! I have joined the band. With the

amazing Dr. Pace, I have continued my musical education, racking up my list of playable

instruments. I am even considering switching from my current alto saxophone to the

violin. I have recently joined the Polish-American Club, embracing my European

heritage. I am very excited to learn not only about the history of Polandbut the

traditions. I may even find a friend who speaks Polish as well.

I have also managed to maintain second honors. I have pushed through Algebra, my

favorite subject, and I am even doing well in Latin, the most awe-inspiring and absolutely

terrifying subject in Xavier. All of this made possible through my scholarship, which

helped me decide to pick Xavier as my school.

I really want you to know how much the Brooklyn Prep Alumni Scholarship means to me

and again thank you so much for your concern for students like me at Xavier High

School. Have an amazing end of spring and a wondrous summer!

For Xavier,

Charlie Kaczor' 16

Gifts of Financial Securities | Bequests | IRA Charitable Rollover
Life Insurance | Matching Gifts

Gifts that provide scholarships and student financial aid are the most important contributions that an Alumnus or friend can make to Brooklyn Prep.

  • Gifts for Scholarships and financial aid mean important educational opportunities for students who have earned the privilege of attending a Jesuit High School but lack the resources to accept offers of admission.
  • Gifts for Scholarship and financial aid help families who can muster a portion of the costs, but cannot manage the full burden of even a modest tuition charge.
  • Gifts for Scholarship and financial aid allow these Jesuit High Schools to recruit the best and the brightest students regardless of economic capabilities.
  • Gifts for Scholarship and financial aid preserve the tradition of ethnic and economic diversity in the student communities - a keystone of Jesuit education.

Please contact BPAA Board member Michael Comerford '72 who specializes in Trusts & Estates for assistance in any of these matters.

What does Joseph A. Califano Jr., the former special assistant to President Lyndon B. Johnson, have In common with John Dockery, the Jets' cornerback?

The same thing that Adm. George W. Anderson Jr., chief of naval operations and Ambassador to Portugal in the Kennedy Administration, shares with William Power Maloney, a lawyer for the underworld figure Joseph Bonanno.

All of them, like William Peter Blatty, the novelist who wrote the screenplay for “John Goldfarb Won't You Please Come Home,” and Kenneth H. Browne, who wrote the play “The Brig,” are alumni of Brooklyn Preparatory School.
