User Guide

For single content images that are not part of a gallery, images frames can be automatically generated.  This is achieved via java script which overlays a png image border over the image.

For this to work correctly all single content images have to be 214x150 pixels

To use this feature highlight your image in the editor and choose "frame" from the Styles Drop Down Menu.
This is only applies to the edugeek template.

This template has been designed around the Free Rocket Theme template Rokwebify.  It has been highly modified for this package and now includes 10 User Module positions, plus a large module for the Smooth Gallery component.

The template comes complete with 10 different colour themes including 2 high contrast themes that should cater for most school colours.  These can be changed on the fly via the built-in colour switcher. It has a larger header with plenty of space for a school logo / name, plus space for urgent school messages.

The images that are shown in the random image module are located in the following folder :

  • \images\stories\random_images

To change them just delete the current images and replace then with the images of your choice via ftp

Please note the images used can be no wider that 214 pixels

Below is the installation guide to get the Edugeek Joomla Package up and running:

  • Upload the contents of folder called site to your web server
  • Via your web browser go to your website e.g. www.yoursite.com
  • You will now see the Joomla pre installation check.  Check the file permission check list and make sure all are writable. Now click next.
  • Accept the licence agreement.
  • Enter your MySQL database information.
  • Make sure that the "drop existing tables" check box is selected and that the "install Sample data" and "backup old tables" check boxes are un-ticked and click next.
  • Enter you school name.
  • Confirm the site url, root server path, and enter an admin email address.  The password will be set to admin automatically after installation so ignore this.
  • Delete the folder "installation" from you web server.
  • Go to www.yoursite.com/administrator and log in as admin / admin
  • Click the "Global” configuration button.
  • Under site tab change default WYSIWYG editor to "JCE editor mambot"
  • Click the content tab and make sure the options are selected as below. click thumbnail to enlarge

  • Click on the "metadata" tab and enter school information to be indexed by search engines.
  • Highlight the "make unwritable after saving” box.
  • Via ftp make the following folders writeable

• /documents
• /dmdocuments
• /images/stories/curriculum_information
• /images/stories/Gallery
• /images/stories/General
• /images/stories/information_for_parents
• /images/stories/news
• /images/stories/random_images

Your site is now up and running ready to be edited.

BPAA 18th Annual Golf Outing - Thursday, September 19th

The BPAA Golf Outing, now in its 18th year is held at the Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, NY. This year's Outing will be on Thursday, September 19th, 2019, please make plans now to gather your foursomes and join us for a wonderful day. If you can't get a foursome together please let Gene make arrangements for you to join a group. The Outing begins with a wonderful lunch on the patio, then 18 holes of golf followed by an open bar, fabulous dinner, and awards ceremony. In addition, everyone attending will receive a gift with the BP logo and details commemorating the event. If you are not a golfer please come join us for cocktails and dinner ($100.00). Please mark your calendar and join fellow Alumni for a great day on the links. The cost is $325.00 for the entire outing. All profits from the event are donated to the Rev John D. What does Joseph A. Califano Jr., the former special assistant to President Lyndon B. Johnson, have In common with John Dockery, the Jets' cornerback?

The same thing that Adm. George W. Anderson Jr., chief of naval operations and Ambassador to Portugal in the Kennedy Administration, shares with William Power Maloney, a lawyer for the underworld figure Joseph Bonanno.

All of them, like William Peter Blatty, the novelist who wrote the screenplay for “John Goldfarb Won't You Please Come Home,” and Kenneth H. Browne, who wrote the play “The Brig,” are alumni of Brooklyn Preparatory School.
